Strong Customer Authentication
Online Payments - Strong Customer Authentication
You may soon start to notice an increase in the number of times you’re asked to verify your identify when accessing online platforms/accounts and to authorise online card payments using 3D Secure or with a One Time Passcode (OTP) which is sent to your mobile phone number.
All online transactions will be SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) compliant from 14th March 2022.
What is changing?
When making payments through your JG+ account online, or on the JG+ App, you will be asked to verify your identity via your Bank by using either:
- 3D Secure - For extra fraud protection, 3D Secure(3DS) requires customers to complete an additional verification step with the card issuer when paying.
- One Time Passcode - A one-time password(OTP), is a password that is valid for only one login session or transaction, on the Sage Pay payment screen.
These additional security checks have been introduced to help reduce fraud, by checking it is you who is making the payment.
This new level of customer security affects all online payment transactions, not just those with James Gibb.
