Sleep in the Park 2017
At James Gibb, we are always looking to continue our charitable efforts. We are delighted to say that Property Managers, Sandra Watt and Mike Grehan together with Accounts Administrator, Kym McCoag and Support Services Director, Val Black (and husband Gordon) will be braving a cold Scottish winters night and will take part in Sleep in the Park on the 9th of December. They will be putting the thermals on and will join 9000 others in Princess Street Gardens, Edinburgh to raise funds and awareness to help Social Bite on their mission to eradicate homelessness in Scotland.
Sleep in the Park is a great event to raise awareness to erase homelessness across the whole of Scotland within the next five years. Social Bite are on a mission to help this problem by providing people with housing, rehabilitation, job opportunities and the support they need to get back on their feet. Social Bite initially began as a sandwich shop on Edinburgh’s Rose Street in 2012, and now has expanded across Scotland. Work has also started on their most ambitious project yet, the Social Bite village, which will consist of 10 two-bedroom homes specially built in Granton to provide a safe living space for up to 20 people from homeless backgrounds. The first residents are to move in before Christmas this year. We at James Gibb want to be a part of the movement to make this happen. Nic Mayal, Managing Director of our Edinburgh office added:
“We encourage peoples support to this cause whether that is taking part or by donating. We really value the effort made to help those who are less fortunate and are delighted to give our support!”
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us, and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity’s behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We have set ourselves a fundraising target of £3000 and would like to say a huge thank you to all who have donated so far!
